Bringing it all to life . . .
Ari Warner
Ari is responsible for the fabulous map in the front of "Secrets of the Sands."
Gail Engle

Gail designed a series of tribal bracelets, based on African bead-languages, for the novel; her concepts were so astounding that they were promptly written into the book during the final publisher revisions. Any time you see a mention of jewelry, especially beaded jewelry, in "Secrets of the Sands," chances are Gail is behind it in some manner.

Gail is a mixed media artist focusing on wearable art. Her work can be found at the Gallery on the York and in The Peninsula Fine Arts Center gift shop. She is organizing an April 2010 Gallery on the York show of mixed media textiles based on the work of prominent local artists. Gail is also involved in a 2010 exhibit in Chesapeake, still in the early planning stages.

Gail holds basic beading classes at Gallery on the York and more advanced classes at Beadworkz in Portsmouth, Virginia. She is in the process of creating a small book of her designs and instructions, which is due out in the summer of 2010.
